A busy three days: 2,787 new domains added, 43 removed. AdGuard DNS Filter, AdGuard Base Filter, and EasyList led the charge with over 800 adds each. The Online Malicious URL Blocklist quietly cleaned house, dropping 39 domains. Now, on to what matters.
Shopstyle Ad Server Briefly Blocked, Then Spared
ads.shopstyle.com made a very short appearance on Peter Lowe’s Ad and Tracking Server List. It was added on August 29, gone by August 31. This is rare for a recognizable retail ad domain. If you run analytics or ad ops for ShopStyle or its partners, your ad delivery and metrics may have been affected for about 48 hours. If you saw a blip in ad impressions or revenue, this is likely why. Expect some “what happened” questions from the business side.
51.la: China’s Legacy Tracker Now on Multiple Lists
51.la showed up on Peter Lowe’s Ad and Tracking Server List. If you operate sites with a Chinese audience, this matters. 51.la is a popular web analytics platform in China, similar to Statcounter or old-school Hitbox. Its inclusion means tracking scripts using 51.la will now be blocked for users with even basic privacy lists. Expect data loss in your analytics for Chinese web properties and likely more blocklist coverage to follow.
API Whack-a-Mole: tblcontent.com Removed, For Now
api.tblcontent.com was added to AdGuard DNS Filter on August 31, then removed the same day. If your service depends on this API, you may have had API failures or lost data for a short period. This kind of whiplash often means either a mistaken addition or a fast response from the domain owner. If you operate an API, keep an eye on these lists—false positives happen, and quick removal is possible if you notice fast enough.
Admaster.cc: Another Tracking Giant Enters the Blocklists
admaster.cc appeared on Peter Lowe’s Ad and Tracking Server List. Admaster is a major Chinese ad measurement and tracking provider. If you’re running international campaigns, expect more incomplete conversion tracking and reporting gaps, especially for Chinese partners. This is not a good time to rely only on client-side tags for attribution.
